Disgruntled in traffic.

2 10 2006

On any other day, I would be more than thrilled to be going 70 to 80 mph on the highway. On a Monday. But today is no ordinary Monday. It’s Yom Kippur. One of those high holy Jewish holidays. That effectively empties the streets today. And I was told to leave for work very early. Very early, much like my first day last Monday. As in my usual time. Around 715a. It usually (I’ve made this drive 5x already) takes me at least an hour to get to work. Today it takes me less than 30 minutes. I think I’m supposed to be disgruntled. I’m not being too successful.

Has anyone ever read Aaron Karo? He’s the guy who wrote Ruminations on College Life as well as Ruminations on 20-something life. Funny stuff. Makes me wonder if I’ll do any similar blundering in my next 6 years of 20-somethingness.  Quite possibly.

Oy vey.

It seems like the internet must be Jewish as well. It seemed to have taken a small holiday earlier this morning. Just up and left. Like most of this office it was a complete no-show. Unlike the rest of this office, it was actually present this morning. It’s back though. I’ve tracked it down and affixed its IP to my computer quite securely. Unless it wants to chew itself into pieces, it’s hopefully not going anywhere this time.
